Hims Weight Loss Review 2026: Pricing, Membership and Refund Policy

Hims charges for a membership and, separately, for medication (pricing page read September 16, 2026). The page says “Price includes medication only, if prescribed,” and that membership “does not include or guarantee a prescription.”

The weight-loss pages list only brand-name drugs: Wegovy (pill, a pill “Microdosing Plan” and pen), Ozempic (pill and injection), the Foundayo pill, Zepbound (vial and KwikPen) and Mounjaro. The company says Wegovy, Zepbound and Foundayo are FDA-approved for weight loss, while Ozempic and Mounjaro are approved for type 2 diabetes and “available only to patients who meet clinical eligibility criteria.”

Hims previously marketed compounded semaglutide, and its old compounded-semaglutide page now shows brand-name options. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved. The FAQ cites Wegovy trial results; those are study averages, and the company says “the timeline for results may vary from person to person.”

Who runs it. Hims & Hers Health, Inc., 2269 Chestnut Street #523, San Francisco, CA 94123, per its terms (updated August 31, 2026). The BBB lists a business start date of December 30, 2013.

Providers. The FAQ says “A state-licensed provider reviews the health history” of each patient; no clinicians are named. The terms name affiliated entities, including You Health of California P.C., P.A. and You Health of Texas, P.A.

Pharmacies. The terms name Apostrophe Pharmacy LLC, XeCare LLC, EHT Pharmacy LLC dba Curexa, CD Pharmacy LLC d/b/a Red Rock Pharmacy, AnazaoHealth Corporation and Strive Specialties, Inc., but not which fills weight-loss orders or their 503A/503B status. An April 23, 2026 company press release says providers can send Zepbound and Foundayo prescriptions to the LillyDirect pharmacy. The weight-loss page displays a LegitScript badge.

FDA warning letter. On September 9, 2025, the FDA cited hims.com claims such as “Same active ingredient as Ozempic and Wegovy” for compounded products and wrote “your products are therefore misbranded under sections 502(a) and 502(bb)” (MARCS-CMS 716567). The letter also states: “Compounded drug products are not FDA-approved.”

FTC lawsuit. On July 29, 2026, the FTC, joined by Utah and by California through Los Angeles County Counsel, sued in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The FTC says that after submitting the intake form, “most consumers will unknowingly be charged for and subscribed to a prescription treatment without having a chance to review or approve it.” It also alleges Hims shared health information “with Meta, Snap and other third parties.” These are allegations; the FTC notes “The case will be decided by the court.”

States. The FAQ says “GLP-1s are not yet available in all 50 states”; no list is published.

Eligibility and labs. A licensed provider decides who qualifies; no BMI thresholds or lab requirements are published.

Visits. “Depending on your state, treatment may be determined without a video visit.” Otherwise, a video or audio appointment is used.

Speed and shipping. No review time is published; the Wegovy pen page says you can start “as soon as this week.” The help center lists a $5 standard shipping fee, says delivery times vary, offers no expedited shipping and cannot ship injectable GLP-1s to PO boxes.

Follow-up. The membership includes “24/7 messaging with licensed providers,” though the Wegovy pen page adds “Response times may vary.” No check-in schedule is published.

Key lines from the terms (updated August 31, 2026):

• “Your first month Membership fee is non-refundable.”
• “Refunds for partially used Weight Loss Membership or Medication Plan periods are not guaranteed and may be provided in our sole and absolute discretion.”
• “You will not be eligible for a refund for any medication after it has been shipped.”
• Cancel “at least two (2) days before your next billing date”; the help center says 48 hours before the next payment.
• “Cancelling your Weight Loss Membership also cancels your Medication Plan” (terms).

How to cancel. Turn off auto-renew under Subscriptions in the app or on the website, or call 1-800-368-0038 (listed in the terms). Access continues to the end of the billing period, per the help center.

If you are not prescribed. We found no refund rule for that case; the first-month fee is non-refundable.

Disputes. The terms require binding individual arbitration before National Arbitration & Mediation, with a class-action waiver and a 30-day opt-out by mail. The FTC complaint also alleges Hims made canceling difficult “by hiding the cancellation button from consumers”; that is not a court finding.

Trustpilot (September 16, 2026): 2.9/5 from 9,289 reviews; 38% five-star and 29% one-star. The profile is claimed, the company replied to 98% of negative reviews, and Trustpilot notes the profile was merged with others belonging to the company.

BBB: accredited since February 22, 2018 but “Not Rated”; the BBB says it “does not have sufficient information to issue a rating on this business.” It lists 4,456 complaints in three years (1,331 closed in the last 12 months), led by product (1,867) and service (1,230) issues, a government-action alert, and the note “Complaints on file concern issues with cancelling orders and refund requests.”

Themes. Praise: easy sign-up, quick provider verification, a helpful care team. Complaints: confusing pricing and unexpected costs, hard-to-cancel memberships, hard-to-reach support, delayed or unwanted shipments.

Large companies collect more complaints in absolute terms, but the one-star share, the BBB note and the FTC allegations all concern billing and cancellation. Check exactly what you will be charged, and when, before confirming.
