What online TRT costs: memberships, labs and medication fees compared

Membership or bundled price

Some clinics charge a monthly membership on top of medication. Male Excel’s pricing page says medication prices do “not include Medical Membership, which is required for treatment,” and explains: “Since testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance, medical monitoring is required by law.” Hone Health also charges a membership, and says medications “are billed separately.”

Others fold everything into one plan price. Hims says its enclomiphene plans include “the consultation, medication, delivery, and ongoing provider support for treatment adjustments as needed.” An advertorial issued under the Taurus name describes a six-month prepaid price that includes medication, consultations and shipping.

Lab tests

Most programs start with a test. Male Excel’s $99 consult includes an at-home blood-spot kit with free shipping both ways. Hone charges $45 for an at-home kit (Men’s Plus) or $65 for a lab test (Premium), plus a mandatory confirmatory test, and says “there is no additional charge for testing at a lab” when you use its requisition. A January 2026 Hims price guide lists a $94 initial lab kit. The Taurus advertorial says patients “typically pay specimen collection fees directly to facilities, generally $10-30 per draw.”

Medication format and dose

Price depends on the format and, at some clinics, the dose. Male Excel’s injections start at $120 a month, its cream at $132 and its oral Triclozene at $95, and it warns: “Any change in dosage will change your TRT cost.” Hone lists injections “From $28/mo,” cream or troches from $60 and enclomiphene from $42. Hims prices enclomiphene by plan length, from $99 to $199 a month.

Formats also differ in FDA status. Hone’s injection page says “This is a compounded product and has not been approved by the FDA,” Male Excel describes its cream as “a compounded blend,” and Hims says “enclomiphene is not FDA-approved.” FDA says it “does not verify the safety, effectiveness or quality of compounded drugs before they are marketed.”

Shipping and billing intervals

Male Excel ships 60-day supplies billed every other month, plus shipping and handling it does not price. Hone includes shipping, charges for medication “4 business days before transferring your medication to the pharmacy” and describes 3-month supplies. Hims’ lowest enclomiphene price requires a 10-month plan “paid upfront and in full.”

Prices below were read on September 16, 2026, and clinics are listed alphabetically. “From” prices are the lowest published figures; your dose, format and plan decide the actual charge.

These examples use each clinic’s lowest published prices and assume no dose changes. They leave out anything a clinic does not price.

Male Excel’s figures assume each two-month bill equals two months at the listed monthly rate, which the company does not state. Hone’s total is $5 lower if its $45 confirmatory price applies, and Hone does not publish the charge per 3-month shipment. Hims’ 3-month and 5-month plans total $597 and $695 before the lab kit (3 × $199 and 5 × $139). The Taurus advertorial’s own totals, which include $60 of blood work, are $1,897 for the six-month plan and $2,497 month to month; none of these Taurus prices appears on taurusmeds.com.

For injections after the first month, our calculation is $163 a month at Hone Health ($135 + $28) and $219 at Male Excel ($99 + $120, before shipping).

• Dose. Male Excel says: “As your dosage of testosterone cream increases, the price of your medication will increase.” Ask any clinic for the price at the next dose up.
• Extra tests. Hone’s Men’s Plus confirmatory test costs $45 to $80 depending on the article and method, Hims does not publish a follow-up lab schedule, and the Taurus advertorial describes per-draw collection fees.
• Shipping. Male Excel’s terms say: “You agree to pay any shipping and handling charges, if any, shown at the time you make a purchase.” Hone and Hims include shipping or delivery.
• Price conflicts. Hone’s pages list Men’s Plus at $129 and at $135 a month. Male Excel’s homepage says “Testosterone therapy starts at $99 per month,” the price of its required membership alone.
• Prepaid plans and refunds. Hims says it “can’t guarantee a refund once the pharmacy has processed your order.” Hone refunds medication only within 48 hours and before pharmacy processing, Male Excel’s terms say “ALL SALES ARE FINAL,” and Taurus’ terms allow no refunds on shipped medication or blood work and call membership fees non-refundable.
• In-person visits. Male Excel says a testosterone treatment plan “may require an in-person medical exam” under DEA and state laws; ask who pays. The current DEA telemedicine extension runs through December 31, 2026, as our federal rules guide explains.
• Insurance, HSA and FSA. Male Excel says “We do not accept insurance” but “You may be able to use FSA, HSA, or HRA funds for reimbursement.” Hone says “Our services are 100% self-pay by our patients” and “each HSA/FSA plan is different.” Hims “doesn’t take FSA or HSA plans as payment at this time” for testosterone care. The Taurus pages we read do not address insurance.
