Online ED treatment prices: how clinics charge for generic and compounded options

The five clinics quote erectile dysfunction (ED) prices in three different ways.

• Per month. Male Excel lists generic tablets at $65 a month, Hims lists generic sildenafil “Starting at $22/mo,” Hone Health lists tadalafil “From $25/mo + membership” and Quad by MEDVi starts at $114 a month. None of these pages says how many doses the month includes.
• Per order. Taurus Meds sells its 3-in-1 product for $101.94 an order, without a dose count or billing interval, and its terms say “Your subscription will continue and automatically renew unless canceled.”
• Per dose. Hims’ sildenafil page says “From $4 per use” and “about $4 to $10 per dose,” its ED page says treatments start “as low as $2/dose,” and the Taurus homepage says “Just $12.99/dose or less.” These are the companies’ own figures, and neither company says which order they apply to.

The number that lets you compare is the cost per dose at the strength you are prescribed: the order price divided by the number of doses in the order. Ask for both before you pay.

Generic sildenafil and tadalafil

Male Excel sells generic sildenafil 100 mg, generic tadalafil 20 mg and daily tadalafil 5 mg, and a company blog says “We only sell FDA-approved ED medicines.” Hone Health calls its tadalafil an “FDA-approved generic for Cialis®” and its sildenafil an “FDA-approved generic Viagra® alternative.” Hims sells generic sildenafil and tadalafil tablets, and its sildenafil page describes the generic as “FDA approved to work the same” as Viagra®. FDA’s Orange Book lists drug products “approved on the basis of safety and effectiveness.”

Compounded combinations

• Taurus Meds: Taurus Charge 3-in-1 is a tablet that dissolves under the tongue, with sildenafil 110 mg, tadalafil 22 mg and apomorphine 3 mg. Its page says the featured products “include compounded products which have not been approved by the FDA.” A 4-in-1 version lists no ingredients or strengths.
• Quad by MEDVi: a liquid that dissolves under the tongue; the page lists apomorphine, L-citrulline, sildenafil and tadalafil without strengths. A July 18, 2026 MEDVi release says “Vardenafil and Apomorphine have been removed and replaced with PT-141 and L-Citrulline” and calls Quad “not an FDA-approved finished product.” The Quad page carries no FDA statement.
• Hims: chewables with sildenafil, tadalafil or both, a daily tadalafil chewable and a “3-in-1” pill with sildenafil and tadalafil. The ED page says its featured products “include compounded products which have not been approved by the FDA.”

Hone Health also lists a PT-141 spray; the Hone pages we read do not state its FDA status.

FDA says: “Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved. This means that FDA does not verify the safety, effectiveness or quality of compounded drugs before they are marketed.” In a November 2024 consumer notice about VitalityXtra, a product sold on websites that FDA laboratory analysis found to contain sildenafil not listed on its label, FDA also warns that this hidden ingredient “may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs, such as nitroglycerin, and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels.” Share the exact ingredients and strengths of any product with your own clinician.

• Hims: the first step is “Take a free, online assessment,” and shipping is free if a prescription is issued. The ED page says “Actual price to customer will depend on product and subscription plan purchased.” Changes must be made 48 hours before the next order. The FTC alleges Hims does not clearly disclose that it charges “almost immediately” after an intake form is submitted; the case is pending.
• Hone Health: ED prices are listed “+ membership,” and Men’s Plus costs $135 a month in Hone’s help center ($129 in its pricing disclaimer). The pages we read do not say which membership an ED-only patient needs; with Men’s Plus, our calculation for tadalafil is $25 + $135 = $160 a month. Sildenafil is also offered through Hone’s async care, which it says has “No membership required.”
• Male Excel: the ED page lists $35 for the first month, then $65, for generic sildenafil or tadalafil, and $29, then $89, for daily tadalafil. The sildenafil page mentions “a 50% discount on your first month’s prescription”; by our calculation, $35 is 46% below $65 (($65 − $35) ÷ $65). Orders arrive by 2-day shipping, but the shipping cost and any consult or membership fee for ED-only patients are not published. ED care requires a physical within the past three years.
• Quad by MEDVi: the $114 monthly price includes the doctor consultation, rush shipping and 24/7 medical support, and the page says “If you don’t qualify, you don’t pay.” MEDVi’s terms add that “medical consult fees are not subject to or eligible for a refund.” Cancellation requests must arrive at least 72 hours before the next billing date.
• Taurus Meds: the terms describe “a recurring membership fee of $17.99 USD per billing period” without defining the period, and the product pages do not mention it. The ED page promises “Free & Discreet Shipping,” while the terms refer to “any applicable shipping fees.”

These are the clinics’ own figures, read on September 16, 2026, with clinics listed alphabetically.

Per-dose comparison: not possible. A per-dose cost needs an order price and the number of doses it buys, and none of the five clinics published both on the pages we read. We have not turned any monthly or per-order price into a per-dose figure.

The Quad page does not say whether $114 continues after the first month, Hims’ figures are starting prices that “depend on product and subscription plan,” and Hone does not say whether Men’s Plus applies to ED-only care. A yearly cost for Taurus Meds cannot be calculated because its order interval is not published. Quad’s discount label is consistent with its prices: ($179 − $114) ÷ $179 = 36.3%, matching “36% Off Retail.”

1. How many doses does this price include, and at what strength?
2. Is the price per month, per order or per shipment, and how often will I be charged?
3. What will the second month cost?
4. Is the product an FDA-approved generic or compounded? If compounded, what are the exact ingredients and strengths, and which pharmacy makes it?
5. Is there a consultation fee or membership, and is it refunded if the clinician does not prescribe?
6. Is shipping included?
7. How do I cancel, and how long before the next charge?
